AM Deadlink
AM Deadlink works with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera Browsers. Basically, it checks through your favorites (bookmarks), and locates and marks any links that are not longer working. If you have a lot of bookmarks, (as I have!) then this is a great way to help keep them up to date. Another feature of Deadlink is its ability to download and save all of the little favicons (where available), theses are the little icons that you see on a tab, or in the address bar when viewing the site.
FeedReader3
FeedReader dynamically reads, collects, and organizes syndicated Web content (RSS Feeds), and seamlessly delivers it to your desktop. Once feeds are downloaded it supports keyword searching, filtering, ultimate view configurability, and the ability to convert to smartfeed and vice versa. You can group headlines by source, date or tag, access different view modes via one-click, add or remove columns from view.
Other features include: Podcast support, tag support, nested folders (for organising feeds), full unicode support, and secure (SSL) connection support. FeedReader3 has a nice simple and easy to use interface, and a very good range of features.
The FeedReader project was started in 2000 and was one of the first and oldest RSS readers available.
Civil Netizen
From small files such as family photos and important business documents, to large files such as production files and multimedia assets. The delivery of some files is absolutely critical, especially for business or the highly personal. Whether used for personal or professional use, it can transfer files up to 4GB in size through a simple drag-and-drop interface. No more FTP clients, failed emails, zip utilities, encryption programs, and download managers.
All file transfer traffic is secured end-to-end using 128-bit AES encryption so is 100% private and secure. The client can resume a dropped or broken transfer, and will also keep trying until the package is delivered. See the site for more details.
FileZilla
A feature packed FTP client with the ability to resume uploads/downloads (if the server supports it), custom commands, time out detection, firewall support, SSL connections, upload/download queues, drag & drop, store mutliple servers and login information.
If you've built a website then this is what you'll need to transfer it to the internet. If you need to access a passworded FTP server to download files then again, you can use FileZilla, plus a lot more!
SGC TCP Optimizer
This program makes it easy for you to tune your system to the type of Internet connection you have using various speed tests and advanced algorithms. Another feature I particularly like about this product is that you are able to back-up your settings before you start - and after any changes you make - so that if you should encounter a problem, then 'rolling back' to a working set-up is a breeze. It gives you easy access to those hard to find settings related to your computers internet connection.
HTTrack
It allows you to download a whole website from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer. It even works on 'dynamic' (database driven) sites. HTTrack arranges the original site's relative link-structure.
Simply open a page of the "mirrored" website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.
FTPpie
Often (especially with free web space from many ISP's) you need to know how much space you have left, but they don't provide the interface with this information. This program can give you this information by enabling you to get a usage piechart from your FTP service. By clicking on a segment in the pie chart you can 'drill down' to sub-folders to see the size of each folder or file and which are taking the most space.
Camembert
Camembert is a small application for displaying and organising multiple webcams on your computer desktop. There's not a lot that can be added to that really. The best thing to do is have a look at the help page for more advanced features!
WebMon
If you have several websites that you like to use, then save yourself some time by using WebMon. WebMon keeps you updated by automatically checking web pages to see if they have been updated or changed. Knowing this means you only visit those sites when you know that there is new content to look at, therefore saving you time.
A useful little utility for keeping an eye on various sites, monitoring software updates, new content, or even changes made by your competition!
Free Download Manager
Using Free Download Manager you can download a list of files and whole web sites from any remote server via HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. It can also function as a site manager, accelerator, site explorer and scheduler, resume broken downloads. It accelerates downloads by spliting files into several sections and then downloading them simultaneously allowing you to increase your download speeds by up to 600%. Another neat feature is the ability to ask other users about a file you are about to download - this means you can often avoid downloading scam or malicious files, as well as leave your own opinion about a file you've downloaded.
Some new features include:
- BitTorrent support - Download files using BitTorrent protocol
- Upload manager - easy way to share your files
- Flash video download - Download from Youtube, Google Video etc.
- Remote Control - View the list of active and completed downloads remotely, via the internet
- Portable mode - easily create a portable version for memory sticks etc.
- Enhanced audio/video support - Preview audio/video files before download is completed and convert file format after download.
Bookmark Lessfuss and call back - there's much more to follow!
